Leslie Cnossen has been telling us ever since her brother Dan was injured in Afghanistan what a positive attitude and good sense of Replica Coach Wallet humor he has maintained despite the loss of both legs and lots of surgeries for other injuries.
Now she has supplied proof.
Leslie has been the primary author of reports posted to the dancnossen.org Web site. Reading those, I have become increasingly eager for him to get back to Topeka. I want to meet this guy.
In one post last week, she reported this comment from Dan:
"I've been thinking about all the things I'm going to do when I get my new legs. I've decided I'm just going to mess with people. I'm going to wear pants and shoes so nobody can tell that I've got prosthetics ... and then I'm going to get them in all different lengths. One day, I'm gonna be 7 feet tall. The next day, I'm gonna show up and be 5'2". I'm trying to decide how tall I want to be, and I think 5 foot would be best because I'll have a lower center of gravity and will be way faster than anybody else. But then other days I'll want to be gigantic."
Then Leslie added: "I don't think I've laughed harder in my life. I will be SO happy if he actually makes that happen!"
Talk about a chief inspirational officer!
To bring you up to speed, Lt. Daniel Cnossen, after graduating from Shawnee Heights High School in 1998, went on to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and became a member of the prestigious Navy SEALs. He was leading his patrol in Afghanistan on Sept. 7 when he triggered an improvised explosive device.
Piaget FakeFor his actions in continuing to lead the patrol despite his injuries, the U.S. secretary of the Navy awarded him not only the Purple Heart but a Bronze Star with V for valor.
Dan's mother and stepfather, Alice and Jeff Landers, flew to Bethesda, Md., to be with Dan when he arrived. Leslie has now given up her job at New York University as a nurse to move to Washington, D.C., to help take care of him.
Mother Alice said just days after his arrival in Bethesda that his strong constitution would see him through.
"He's climbed Machu Picchu and hiked Patagonia's Torres del Paine, so you can bet he'll attack his recovery plan with the same unbelievable resolve."
