And that's why the paper has come up with Her - a new female section with an emphasis on fashion and fun.

Catalog Printing

Her launches in The Herald on Wednesday April 2, with a competition to win the ultimate shopping experience at House of Fraser. One lucky winner will receive a prize worth pounds750, with pounds250 of Ted Baker, All Saints and Tommy Hilfiger vouchers.

There's also a runners-up prize of a fantastic Karen Millen handbag (pictured) worth pounds180.

And, to celebrate the launch of Her The Herald is creating its very own ice-cream.

The paper has teamed up with Langage Farm, just outside Plymouth, to ask: "What do women want as the ultimate ice-cream flavour?"

We want readers to suggest a great new variety which sums up the fun of Her.

The winning recipe will be turned into Her ice-cream and some lucky readers will get to sample it free at forthcoming events in the city.

Send your ice-cream idea to Her ice-cream competition, The Herald, 17 Brest Road, Derriford, Plymouth PL6 5AA or email . The winner will receive a year's supply of ice- cream, and the closing date is next Friday, April 4.

The competition will be judged by a panel from The Herald and Langage Farm.

Normal competition rules apply. For full terms and conditions, see today's classified section.

Each week, Her will bring you the latest fashion trends, with advice on the best buys available in Plymouth. It will feature beauty secrets, natural health advice and led flexible light strips stories about real women.

The Herald's deputy editor Clare Jardine said the paper had carried out substantial research to see what women wanted to read in the new female section.

She said: "Our readers told us they loved national fashion magazines, but wanted something that was targeted at those living and shopping in Plymouth. They were fed up with seeing pictures of clothes that were only available in London, and they were also sick of seeing skinny models - not real people. So The Herald will only be featuring clothes that are available in city shops.

"We'll be using real local people to model for our photo shoots and profiling the kind of women who make this city tick."

Her will be offering readers the chance to sample products and recommend their favourite buys - and will also be at events across Plymouth to ensure the section is also packed with pictures of you, its beautiful readers.
