WE, the fairer sex, hoard endless items in our handbags on a daily basis - as many as 63 different objects, according to research carried out by Kleenex, writes Sue Cooke. Other than the usual suspects, such as make up and purses, the research discovered a few unusual objects in the handbag mix, like detachable car CD players and screwdrivers for repairing glasses.

Ninety-two per cent of the items aren't seen as being useful and of the 1,300 women surveyed, 57 per cent admitted they only use one to five of those items. The rest are "just in case" items, like the torch I carry and the compass.

I take my daughter shopping during the week and the combined weekly food bags of two households easily fitted into the spacious boot which with seats folded down will hold a maximum of 787 litres.

As a young twenty something, she really admired the exterior looks of the new Sport model which has a forward thrusting appearance with a high curvy rear end. The 1.5-litre engine I road tested doesn't disappoint the anticipation driven by its sporty looks. Acceleration is rapid from 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds and even comes with a sporty note. I did find the clutch a little sensitive and the car stalled on a couple of occasions. Aren't people impatient.
