AT home to Chester City looks like a shoe-in for Gateshead, but Ian Bogie insists his side will tread as carefully against the rock-bottom Blues as they would were they playing high-flying Oxford United, writes STEVE BROWN.
The Tynesiders entertain Chester today looking to avoid double defeat to a club rooted to the foot of the Blue Square Premier table after the Football Conference deducted them 10 points for entering administration and a further 15 for insolvency. Bogie's squad is boosted by the addition yesterday of Mansfield Town striker Daryl Clare on an emergency loan, and the Gateshead boss is hopeful of landing an unnamed Championship winger on a similar temporary deal.
Such players may become commonplace once the club turns professional next season but, while encouraged by the "exciting times" ahead, Bogie has warned his men they must Rolex Replica Watches resist the temptation to look too far ahead - and instead focus on the here and now.
He said: "We will approach it like we would if we were playing Oxford United or Luton Town. "They are all massive games in this league, and this one is particularly important because of where we both are in the league.
"Chester will come at us, they will not shut up shop and neither will we.
"Both teams need to win, so it should be a very open game. We are confident after winning last week (against Eastbourne Borough).
"We have been strong at home recently and not conceded many. You have Replica Hermes Watches to look to win your home games, and anything away is a bonus.
"It will be tough, Chester have a new manager (Jim Harvey) and he will have brought in new players but, whatever they bring to the table, if we show the same endeavour and quality as last week I am confident we will do well.
"It is important we stop them doing the double over us, but we will have to be at our very best."
Bogie added: "I have looked at their statistics and they are not conceding many goals.
"They have actually had very creditable results.
"These are exciting times at Gateshead, turning full-time next season. It will be a big boost, but we cannot get to carried away with ourselves.
"Firstly we have to focus on the game in hand, staying in this league is hugely important."
On 31-year-old
embroidered patches former Republic of Ireland B international Clare, Bogie added: "Clare is a proven striker at Conference level and his goalscoring exploits are second to none. "We needed to add firepower to the attack, and hopefully Clare will provide this."
